"Later, I passed the story on to some people in our company and they passed it on to others, and soon our business did much better. And like me, many people said it helped them in their personal lives."

이후, 나는 그 이야기를 우리 회사 몇몇 사람들에게 전달했고, 그 사람들이 또 다른 사람들에게 전달해서 곧 우리 사업이 더 잘 되었어. 

그리고 나처럼, 많은 사람들이 그 이야기가 그들의 개인적인 삶을 도와줬다고 얘기했지"

* pass on something= to give something to someone, after someone else gave it to you. 다른 사람에게 받은 것을 또 다른 사람에게 주는 것, 즉, 전달하다

"However there were a few people who said they got nothing out of it. They either knew the lessons and were already living them, or more commonly, they thought they already knew everything and didn't want to learn. They couldn't see why so many others were benefitting from it."

하지만, 그 이야기에서 아무 것도 얻지 못했다고 말하는 사람들도 있었어. 그들은 그 교훈을 알았고, 이미 그 교훈들 속에서 살고 있었으나, 혹은 더 일반적으로 살고 있었으나, 그들은 이미 모든 것을 안다고 생각해서 배우려고 하지 않았어. 그들은 왜 많은 다른 사람들이 그 이야기에서 혜택을 보고 있는지 알 수 없었지. 

"When one of our senior executives, who was having difficulty adapting, said the story was a waste of time, other people kidded him saying they knew which character he was in the story - meaning the one who learned nothing new and did not change."

이 교훈을 적용하는 것에 어려움을 겪고 있던 우리 고위경영진 중 한 명이 그 이야기는 시간낭비라고 말했을 때, 다른 사람들은 그가 말하는 것을 보고 그가 이야기 속에 어떤 캐릭터인지 알겠다고 농담을 했어. 이야기 속의 그 캐릭터는 새로운 아무것도 배우지 못했고 변화하지 않았던 사람이거든. 

*kid 가 동사로 쓰이면, 농담하다 란 뜻입니다. 즉, to make a joke, or to trick someone with a joke. 

"What's the story?" Angela asked. 

무슨 이야기인데? 안젤라가 물었다. 

"It's called, Who moved My Cheese?"

'누가 내 치즈를 옮겼을까' 란 이야기야. 

The group laughed. "I think I like it already," Carlos said. 

친구들은 웃었다 "나 벌써 그 이야기가 좋은 것 같아" 카를로스가 말했다. 

"Would you tell us the story? Maybe we can get something from it."

우리에게 그 이야기 들려줄래? 아마 그 이야기에서 뭔가 얻을 수 있을 것 같아.

"Sure," Michael replied. "I'd be happy to - it doesn't take long." And so he began:

"물론이지" 마이클이 대답했다. "기꺼이 얘기해줄께, 그리 길지 않아" 그리고서는 마이클은 이야기를 시작했다:
