narrow something down 은 여러개의 목록 중에 몇개로 간추리는 것을 말한다.
즉 여러 개 선택지 중에, 덜 중요한 것들은 제외하고 필요한 것들만 추리는 것을 말한다.
make a number or list of things smaller, by removing the things that are less important, necessary, or suitable.
예문을 하나 더 들어보면,
We narrowed the list of candidates down from ten to three.
우리는 후보자를 10명에서 3명으로 추렸어요.
라고 쓸 수 있겠다.
